Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper is reportedly on Brighton and Hove Albion’s shortlist of potential candidates as they search for a new manager. Although there has been no putting pen to paper yet, Cooper has been asked about the situation several times since linking up with his squad again in July. Each time, he has stressed his focus is on the team, rather than his own personal circumstances. Asked if there was an update on his situation,
Steve Cooper said: “I don’t know. It’s not something I think about too much, if I’m being honest. I think about the team, I think about the staff and just being the best club we can be on a day to day. My real focus is on new players coming in and building on from where we left off at Wembley.”
Last month, before the trip to Newcastle United on the opening weekend,
Steve Cooper said: “I don’t really think about it to be honest, not something that enters my mind, I’m more interested in the team and trying to deliver the right training sessions and I’m just not interested in personal stuff. Am I happy? Yeah, double happy. Every day it’s an honour and a privilege to be here. It’s not something I spend too much time thinking about.”
Towards the end of August, he reiterated his stance,
Steve Cooper saying: “If you know me, it’s not something that will be in my mind. I’m more interested in the greater good of the club, trying to prepare the team for the next game, and trying to prepare the squad for the season. That will always be at the forefront of my mind.”
