Tottenham continued their unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory against Fulham on Saturday, with goals coming from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Kane. This takes Antonio Conte’s side level on points with Man City after six games. This showed Conte that he can make rotations in his squad and the quality in the depth can help his side secure maximum points in games. After the match, goalscorer Hojbjerg gave his verdict.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg said: “Very happy for the three points and now I’m more relaxed. You look at the table, Fulham are competing very well, they have some good players and newly promoted, they’re very excited so we had to suffer. For me, we had to suffer a bit too much but we did it and we did it well and great day. Premier League I think you’re never in control. Credit to the team, suffered really well. I’m really happy for the guys that are new to the team that came in today, Clement, Richy, giving the team a great boost and great lads, I’m really happy for them because they performed fantastically.”
The Dane once again produced a solid performance himself, making an impact at both ends of the pitch and continuing to be a leader in his central midfield position. Hojbjerg explained that his job is “to make the team glue together and keep control and make the game faster and support my teammates.” The 27-year-old then went on to highlight the performances of both Richarlison and Hugo Lloris, with Hojbjerg very quick to praise both.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg said: “Richy’s fantastic, Richy is amazing. I’m happy that he is playing for Spurs. Training with him as well, against him. Fantastic boy, fantastic mindset, crazy but in a good way. He really deserves what comes his way, but he has to stay focused and concentrated, but well done to him. He still has a lot to learn but we are happy to have him here and he needs to keep improving.”
