Patrick Vieira admits that the likes of Wilfried Zaha were left frustrated during Crystal Palace’s goalless draw at Newcastle United.
Patrick Vieira said: “He [Zaha] was frustrated from the start to the end. I think when you play up front, I think there was a little frustration for JP [Mateta] and [Odsonne] Edouard when he came on because it was difficult to find them and we didn’t play well enough to find our front three. This was one of the reasons why Wilfried [Zaha] was frustrated.”
Zaha has had an impressive start to the season so far with four goals in five Premier League games, including a brace in a 3-1 win against Aston Villa. But Palace’s talisman struggled to make an impact at St James’ Park.
Patrick Vieira said: “It is not about the individual, it is about the collective. I think we need to reflect on how we didn’t play well enough to find him quicker. At the same time, yes he has to accept that under pressure it is always difficult to find our front players.”
