Bruno Lage believes ‘something can happen’ on deadline day as Wolverhampton Wanderers target a replacement for Willy Boly. Boly is in the final stages of a transfer to Nottingham Forest and Wolves are working to find a replacement. Craig Dawson and Jason Denayer are two of the options under consideration.
Bruno Lage said: “You never know what can happen until the end of the market. Sometimes when things are important for the player and the club we need to accept. We have two young players playing in Collins and Kilman, and we have two young players in Toti and Yerson (Mosquera), but in my opinion we need one more centre-back. We are very happy with the two who played today, and Yerson and Toti. Let’s see (what happens). What is important is when we are talking about this market, it was about patience. Trust in us that this summer will be different, this window will be different, and we will create that team we want. In the perfect world we want everyone here on the first day, but it wasn’t possible. Patience, because we are building the squad that everyone wants – the fans, the manager, and also Jeff (Shi). Now everyone needs time. Me, but more important than me, the players because the Premier League is so hard to play in.”
Lage was speaking after Wolves failed to win again against managerless Bournemouth. The Cherries – who had conceded 16 goals in their previous three matches – held Wolves to a 0-0 draw to stop their own rot. Wolves are now without a victory in their last 12 Premier League matches, dating back to April last season. Lage believes his team were unfortunate on the south coast and remains confident their luck will turn.
Bruno Lage added: “I think (we should have won). The way we played all game with one dynamic, then we changed and continued to play well. We created a lot of good chances to score goals. We didn’t score and we are frustrated about the result. But, like I said to the players, now is not the time to cry. We deserve more than what we have at the moment, not just tonight but the other games. I believe in the way we are playing and the way we work. The goals will come.”
