Aston Villa have completed the signing of Diego Carlos from Sevilla and the Brazilian has been speaking of his delight at joining the football club. Carlos becomes the fifth South American member of Steven Gerrard’s squad and the centre-back has revealed that Philippe Coutinho has already congratulated him on the move. Having earned his first senior call-up for his national team in 2020, Carlos hopes to win more after signing on at Villa. Speaking of his personal ambitions,
Diego Carlos said: “First of all I want to speak with the manager when we start so we can discuss and understand what he wants from me at Aston Villa and all the players and of course from there I’ll know my goals from my decision. I’ll have the passion. My club can count on me.”
Speaking of the Brazilian contingent at Bodymoor Heath,
Diego Carlos added: “I know Douglas Luiz from the Olympic Games. The two of us had the pleasure of winning the gold medal together. And, Philippe Coutinho – in fact, (on Thursday) I spoke to him on the phone, he congratulated me on being here and being with him. I’m really happy about this, the two players are fantastic and, as I’ve said, when I see them we can start working together. Coutinho, he is a phenomenon and a great footballer. To share the pitch with him, share the game with him, I think it will be fantastic.”
