Ryan Sessegnon has admitted that he would not swap Harry Kane or Son Heung-min for any of Liverpool’s attacking quintet. Jurgen Klopp’s side have scored goals for fun in recent seasons, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino pivotal to their recent success.
Ryan Sessegnon said: “No way, no way. The two players we have in the team are world class and we wouldn’t swap them for anyone.”
Not only having world-class players in Kane and Son, Spurs also have another at the back in Cristian Romero. That certainly makes it much easier for Tottenham possessing three players of such quality.
Ryan Sessegnon said: “Of course, much easier. They can do special things on the ball and you saw that again today. Sonny assisted H again and their combination they’ve had ever since playing together is unbelievable. Consistent over the last six or seven years, they’ve been doing it at the top level and the numbers speak for themselves.”
Perhaps a bit underappreciated by some in the game despite registering goals and assists for fun in recent seasons for Tottenham, Sessegnon has no doubts that his teammate is a world-class player.
Ryan Sessegnon added: “100%. It’s hard to know why he is underrated because consistently season after season his numbers are there. I think it’s because he’s such a down-to-earth normal guy, he’s not an arrogant person and he’s just very friendly with everyone. That’s probably why.”
Now at the business end of the season with all to play for, Tottenham go into Saturday evening’s clash against Liverpool needing points in their top-four quest, with their opponents in desperate need of maximum points as they look to triumph over Man City in the title race. Despite Liverpool’s red-hot form, Spurs will be approaching the game in their usual manner rather than having a specific plan in place to nullify them and leave with points in the box.
Ryan Sessegnon said:”Just the way we approach every game. It’s going to be a very difficult game away at Anfield, but you’ve seen we can take points from the top teams as we’ve done it against Man City this season, we took two wins there. There’s no reason why we can’t go there and win the game.”
Drawing 2-2 with them earlier in the campaign at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Antonio Conte’s men really could have won the game with the Lilywhites having plenty of chances to seal a crucial victory. It’s a fixture Spurs can take confidence from heading into the trip to Merseyside, with Sessegnon also able to take belief from the draw after doing very well in his left wing-back berth up against Salah.
Ryan Sessegnon said: “100 per cent. We’ll look at the game and see the positives and take those positives into the next game at Anfield. We know it’s a different stage of the season and we have to manage it. But again when we have the chances to score, we should take those chances. I think every game I play in this team gives me confidence to go and do what I want to do on the pitch, especially against the big teams as I played well in the last game when they came here. It’ll be no different going into that game.”
