Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted he was “pleased” that his side picked up a point against a “dangerous” Aston Villa team. The match between the two sides ended in a draw at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Leicester had played four times since Villa’s previous game, meaning Rodgers was happy to share the spoils.
Brendan Rodgers said: “I was pleased for the players because if you think, the last time Aston Villa played, we’ve played four games. The energy of the players, they gave everything in the game. We started the game very well, got into some great areas of the field. Maybe because of all the games we’ve played, there was a lack speed in the final third of the pitch. It maybe isn’t quite there for us. We were strong in the game, but tired a little bit towards the end. But then you’ve got to show resilience at the end and that extra determination that I spoke about. If you can’t get the breakthrough to win it, you certainly mustn’t lose it. Against a dangerous team that have real quality, I thought in the main we played well. It’s just that final third.”
