Steven Gerrard admits he’s “super frustrated” at Bertrand Traore’s latest injury setback. The Burkinabe forward will miss Villa’s trip to Leicester with a groin injury.
Steven Gerrard said: “I’ve been super frustrated with this one. I saw him in the Premier League previously and he is capable of scoring and creating. He has big talent. But I turned up and he was injured. We got him back fit, allowed him to go away to the Africa Cup of Nations, he came back injured. We got him back fit and yesterday he dropped out injured. We haven’t seen enough of the boy. In terms of his body this season since we came in, we haven’t been able to trust it to be available and play. That has been frustrating because he is a big talent.”
On Villa’s current plight having lost four on the spin while sitting three places above the drop zone,
Steven Gerrard added: “Losing four games isn’t good enough. That is the reality. We have to change where we are right now. I think the perspective has to be the job we have taken and the time we have had so far. That is where the perspective needs to be, not necessarily on the last four results because I believe we should have got better results in those games. From now to the end of the season is the priority. I know a lot of people are talking behind the scenes and on social media about targets and what we need to do, who we need to replace. It is not time to talk about that. The work is going on in the background, you guys know what. The priority now is the next seven games and putting the team in a better place than where we are right now.”
