Dan Burn says Newcastle United players are refusing to accept that their work is done for the season – despite hitting the 40-point mark with FIVE games to spare. United are safe all but in name but can still achieve a top 10 finish and also better last season’s points tally of 45 with 15 big points left to play for. Burn reflected on what he feels is a brilliant achievement from the squad since arriving in January from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Dan Burn said: “Well 40 is the magic number but until it’s done we will just keep going. We don’t want to stop here we want to go as high as we can. I think it’s some achievement from where we were when the ownership came in to where we are now.”
Newcastle moved on to 40 points with their hard fought victory over Crystal Palace thanks to Miguel Almiron’s winner.
Dan Burn said: “The first half we were brilliant on and off the ball, the second half we wanted to go out with the mentality the same as the first half. When you have got something to defend and you know you are so close to getting over the line it’s only natural you drop off a bit. We were really good in that low block and we have been since I have been here. Yeah, I thought everyone to a man was brilliant.”
Burn says he is living the dream at Newcastle after watching Champions League nights against Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen as a fan.
Dan Burn added: “I love playing at home and it feels like what it used to be like when I was a kid. I’d come and watch Champions League games and stuff like that. The big roar before kick off gets us going and when you know you have them on your side it makes a big difference.”
