Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher says that he made the right decision to join Crystal Palace on loan this season and has sent Thomas Tuchel a transfer message ahead of the 2022/23 season. The young midfielder admitted he wants to be on the pitch amid speculation linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Conor Gallagher said: “I have to be totally honest, I really like him but I didn’t see him becoming the player he has. I watched him a lot in the Chelsea youth team and he was a good technical player, what’s made the difference for him is confidence and scoring goals. When you see yourself in headlines, scoring goals live on Sky against Everton, they are the moments where everyone talks about you. People will go out in the garden and try and replicate those moments. He’s nicking in with goals, scruffy goals, getting his numbers up, that’s what gets you noticed. I think as a footballer you notice that. When you’re playing okay, getting 7/10 that’s fine. It’s when you start scoring goals, that’s what gets you on the back pages, that’s when people start to talk about you in a different light as a midfield player. He’s become a complete one.”
The midfielder spoke after the match and revealed some big things ahead of next season including what he wants as speculation over his future mounts.
Conor Gallagher said: “It was amazing, a great feeling to play at Wembley in front of all the fans. I’m really proud, it was good to get the win. A proud moment to be honest. I was a little bit nervous, but not too much, I don’t get too much nerves to be honest, with football. I was just excited to be honest, wanted to get in there and do the best I could. I was trying to do what I’m best at, winning the ball back, press and win chances. We could have done better in the first half, but the game opened up a bit in the second, and I think overall it was a good performance.”
Gallagher was then asked about his Palace move, but also sent Tuchel a message about his future in the process
Conor Gallagher said: “Honestly, it was such a good decision, it’s gone so well. I’ve had so many opportunities to play in the Premier League as much as I have and to express myself, now playing for England, I can’t complain for sure.I think everyone can see how much I love football and just want to be on the pitch. I just want to do my best whenever I’m on the pitch.”
