Frank Lampard has called on Everton’s supporters to give Dominic Calvert-Lewin time and spoken of his frustration at how injuries have impacted his side since his arrival at the club. Everton’s poor run of form continued against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night as Frank Lampard’s side were comfortably beaten 5-0 in the capital.
Frank Lampard said: “I want people to give Dominic time, he is a big player for us and it was a difficult game for him on Monday. Once it went against us there wasn’t much space for him to get behind and we weren’t crossing a lot of balls for him. He needs to push himself and we need to keep pushing him, because it’s been a difficult time.”
Blues boss Lampard continues to be hit by injuries with Demarai Gray, Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina, Fabian Delph and Tom Davies all missing Monday’s game. It has been a familiar trend for the Everton boss since he was appointed as Rafa Benitez’s successor at the end of January. And Lampard has explained how injuries to defenders have prevented him from setting his side up the way he wants to.
Frank Lampard said: “They are high-level players and it affects the systems I can play. When big players come back it is a boost for the whole group. The way we’ve played at Goodison and the feeling with the fans has been very positive and we need that going into these next games.”
