Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will be a future captain at Leicester City, according to manager Brendan Rodgers. Having put his faith in the midfielder this season, there’s still one thing that has surprised manager Brendan Rodgers in the player’s first Premier League campaign.
Brendan Rodgers said: “What’s surprised me about him is the consistency of his performances. He’s so hungry to prove himself, he’s done it in the big games and is doing it consistently. He’s just been so wanting this chance and this opportunity and now you can see the kid loves the club. He wants to play for the club.”
Rodgers also made a big prediction over the midfielder.
Brendan Rodgers said: “I think at some point he will be the skipper here. I think he’s a captain sometime in the future. He leads, he inspires, he’s got a voice and he’ll also say what he thinks. But he’s also very respectful and very humble, a great ambassador for the club and the academy. I do see him going on one day and captaining the club.”
Having spent last season on loan with Championship side Luton Town, Dewsbury-Hall came back eager to make his breakthrough this season, with Rodgers revealing a conversation with the player at the start of the campaign.
Brendan Rodgers added: “I said to him in summer, ‘listen this is the plan. You’ll get some cup games. Some European games and work your way through and prove the point every day in training. His big moment came away at Southampton when he came in and made the difference and from then he’s not looked back. He’s been absolutely brilliant. There’s no doubt that he’s one of those who understands what playing for Leicester is about. He’s a great kid. I’m so happy for him as well because he’s been champing at the bit. He gives us balance, gives us legs, quality, desire, and at times lifts the teams and that’s the sign of a good player.”
