Luis Diaz has been familiarising himself with his new surroundings as a Liverpool player – including a meeting with one of his new team-mates. In a video released by LFC TV, when meeting Van Dijk, the pair exchanged a a hug as well as an informal welcome before Diaz went into another room to talk to Klopp and Lijnders. Immediately after meeting the Dutchman, Diaz turned to Klopp and said: “He is so big.”
Luis Diaz said: “Van Dijk… yes, so big! But he is fast with his feet. He is a very technical player. It’s very nice here (AXA Training Centre), it’s a pleasure for me.”
Klopp hinted in his press conference that he could hand Diaz his Liverpool debut when they face Cardiff City in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp said: “I don’t know. If he had been here on Thursday he could have trained a little bit and I would have definitely considered it. Give me a second to meet him and to ask him how his last two or three days were! It’s not easy to sit around in Paris waiting for the papers. It is not the best time in your life and doesn’t help you with recovery from the intense period he had with two games for Colombia and massive travel. Let’s have a look. I wouldn’t say no because I would be excited as well about giving him a few minutes in a sold-out Anfield but let’s see.”
