One defender who is set to leave Wolves before next Monday’s deadline is Wednesfield-born Dion Sanderson. The 22-year-old was recalled from his loan spell at Birmingham City to ease Lage’s defensive crisis at the beginning of the month. Sanderson was overlooked for a start against Southampton and he didn’t make the 20-man squad for the win over Brentford at the weekend.
Bruno Lage said: “I talked with him this morning. I try to be honest with everyone every time. It was a hard decision to make between him and Toti. As I told you before, I didn’t want to change many things. The team felt comfortable with Max (Kilman) on the right and (Conor) Coady, so that’s why I didn’t put Leander (Dendoncker) or Dion on the right. I chose Toti because he can play left side. I’m very happy with him and he knows that. We must see what’s best for him between now and the end of the month. (He can) stay with us or continue to play (on loan).”
Sanderson is being chased by several Championship clubs, including Blues, but Queens Park Rangers are currently in pole position to sign him.
