What do you think of the display?
First of all I want to say sorry to our fans for the defeat. I asked to the players to light the fire. And the first half they didn’t. It was a so, so, no good, [not] what I expected. And the second half after the goal, we disappeared. And maybe we played better than the 11. Now my thought is to pick up the players as Sissoko, Cleverley, players who play with heart, with the right mentality. The Premier League is a tough league and only [those who] want to fight and play for the squad can continue in this way.
Can Watford carry on like this?
No, we have to change. We have to change mentality. We can’t carry on in this way. I want players who believe, believe to fight in every match, with passion, with heart.
How do you get more from the players?
Players don’t play for me. They play for the club, for the fans, for everybody. Not selfish, I don’t want these kind of players. My point of view is, the captain, Cleverley, some of these players, the others have to follow. That is my wish.
Are you worried about your job?
I speak every day with all the board and we work with passion. We are in the right way and we have to react.
Do you think it would be better if you quit?
No, no I don’t go away. I want to continue because I am a fighter. I never give up in my career. This is a good team but they must change the mentality. Some players have to follow, Sissoko and Cleverley the two captains. This is my work.
Why did the team disappoint you and play ‘selfish’ as you said?
I don’t know why. I don’t know why. Look, after the Newcastle performance I wanted to see the same spirit, the same squad spirit, but I didn’t see this. Everybody wanted to resolve the question alone. That is not right. Norwich gave us a very right lesson. They played as a squad, they played together, they fight together, and they won.
