Bruno Lage has refused to be drawn on speculation linking Matt Doherty with a return to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Bruno Lage responded: “I heard after our victory against Manchester United our goalkeeper was going to five or six clubs, our defenders, our midfielders, our strikers. Even today when I was in the meeting, I was surprised to see all the players there. I have heard a lot of things, so I was surprised everyone was still in the building! It’s that time of the season, rumours… We must wait and see what really happens in the end.”
One player who Lage wants to sign is Hwang Hee-chan. Wolves can sign the RB Leipzig forward permanently for £14m and Lage previously asked chairman Jeff Shi to trigger the option in January. However, four-goal top scorer Hwang faces a spell on the side-lines with a hamstring injury, so Wolves could now wait until the summer to complete the purchase.
Bruno Lage said: “I like him a lot as a player, as a person, as a professional. I haven’t changed my idea. But it’s also important to understand we can make that decision at the end of the season.”
