Goal hero Cole Palmer says he hopes Pep Guardiola noticed his lovely goal for Manchester City at Swindon as he declared that his first Premier League goal will ‘soon come’.
Cole Palmer said: “We started well, it’s a tough place to come. We knew the fans would be behind them so we’re delighted. I enjoyed it, Rodo told me to go wide, stay wide, create things. I tried to do it and it paid off.”
On his goal, his first in the FA Cup, Palmer said he was keen to take his chance when minutes are limited in the Premier League – but that he’s confident that a first league goal won’t take too long.
Cole Palmer said: “I’m delighted, Prem [goal will] soon come. I’ve got to take it game by game, day by day. Hopefully I’ll work my way up. There’s always that bit of pressure coming up, being young and coming into a team, got to enjoy it and play your stuff.”
Of Guardiola, who was watching from home as he isolates with Covid, Palmer told his manager that he will continue to work hard and provide goals for the team when he’s picked.
Cole Palmer declared: “He’s been in touch with Rodo and he’s passed it on to us, delighted for him. Hopefully he enjoyed it [the goal], I’ve got to keep working hard, show what I can do day in day out. I’ve got to keep going, try and get more minutes, more goals, more assists and help the team out.”
