Claudio Ranieri has confirmed that Watford are set to sign Congolese midfielder Edo Kayembe in the January transfer market. While speaking in a press conference ahead of the Hornets’ FA Cup tie with Leicester City, Ranieri was asked whether or not the team could expect any more additions after the defensive duo were signed.
Claudio Ranieri replied: “There is also Kayembe the midfielder, he’s another left-footer, he’s strong. I think these three new players can improve the team.”
The 23-year-old, who plays predominantly as a central midfielder, has featured 17 times in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League scoring four times and assisting another. The club have now officially confirmed that Kayembe has signed a four-and-a-half-year year contract with Watford. When asked about how the deal came about,
Claudio Ranieri explained: “Oh, I speak every day with the board, and the board and me, we know what is very important, how we can improve our squad.”
It seems only a matter of time before Kayembe is officially announced as a Hornets player, in the meantime supporters will just have to enjoy the announcements of Kamara and Samir.
