The Longstaff situation remains unresolved at Newcastle after over two years of contract negotiations between both Mike Ashley’s regime and the new ownership model. When asked about Longstaff’s contract limbo,
Eddie Howe said: “I’m aware of course, Sean is a very good player and he will have an opportunity to showcase his talent. He can show to me and the club he has a long-term future here. It’s in his hands as well not just our hands.”
Longstaff is currently free to talk to clubs in Europe and can quit the club at the end of the season on a free transfer as he has reached the end of his existing deal. He can also join another Premier League side at the end of the season.
