Everton manager Rafa Benitez has hinted that Lucas Digne may have played his final game for the Toffees amid links with a move to Leicester City. Speaking about the decision to not play Digne against Brighton, Benitez hinted it would be the same against City.
Rafa Benitez said. “The most important thing for me is to have players on the pitch who want to be there, who want to fight for this club, for these fans and for their team-mates. This is the main thing. After that you have to choose the best one possible.”
The full-back had missed the last three games through injury and illness, but returned to the squad for the Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion. But Digne was an unused substitute for the 3-2 defeat against the Seagulls with Seamus Coleman preferred in the left wing-back role. Everton confirmed the signing of left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko on the first day of the transfer window, creating further doubts about the future of Digne. City face Everton in their next Premier League game, travelling to Goodison Park for a rearranged match on Tuesday, January 11.
