Was it a deserved result or could you have got the win?
At the end, I think so, but I said this to our players. On one hand, I think we had a good performance, great commitment, great desire to take points against a strong team, against – for me – one of the best teams in the world in this the moment, not only Europe. To get one point could be good one on one hand, on the other when you create this many chances and have this type of performance you have to kill your opponent and get three points. For this reason I think we have to be a bit disappointed. We have to go home happy, but half and half. Happy on the one hand but a bit disappointed on the other, because we had an important chance to get three points against Liverpool, one of the best, not only in the Premier League but in the world.
What did you make of the performances of Harry Winks and Dele Alli today?
I think a good performance, but I didn’t have doubts about this. Harry Winks is working very hard. He impressed me in training sessions for his commitment, his will, his desire. I think he’s a really good player. When we play in this way, with this formation, with a number four in front of the three central defenders, I think he’s very, very good. Very good. Good performance from him and Dele played a good game. Also, Dele, if we play with a 3-5-2, he’s a midfielder that is good physically, strong physically, good technique, good penetration because he has the right ability to attack. He had chances to score but good performance. Also Sessegnon. I know that if we want to improve, if we want to improve our level, I need to improve every single player that we have. This is the only way, the only path that we have to do. I know that if we improve every single player, we improve the level of this team. Otherwise it will be very difficult to be competitive.
Before this game, Spurs had four games in hand, there is no transparency of what is required to have a game called off, are you worried about this imbalanced table and is it better to call off all the games in a week?
My point of view, our last game was two weeks ago against Norwich. Then we postponed three games and also, don’t forget the game in the Conference League. It’s not easy because when there are teams that played 18 games, others that played 15 games, it’s not easy or simple. You have to try to level the situation, but in this moment it’s very difficult for the Premier League and government to try to take the best decision. But they have to take it, to be safe for the whole country. Then we’re ready to respect the decision that they have to take and we are available to do the best. The most important thing is the decision they have to take is the best for the whole country.
What did you make of the decisions in the game, the Harry Kane challenge which Jurgen Klopp said he thought was a definite red card and the Dele penalty claim?
Honestly, and I said this also to TV, I haven’t seen the Robertson situation or the Harry Kane situation, and I haven’t seen the possibility of the penalties. My staff said to me the second [Liverpool] goal was a clear handball. Clear, a clear handball. I think it’s not right to comment on refereeing decisions after the game. I don’t know if Jurgen wanted to comment on this but I can tell you my staff said to me that it was incredible to give the second goal and not to disallow it because there was a clear handball from Salah. But it was an exciting game with great emotions for the people who saw it and I don’t like that we have to speak about refereeing decisions at the end. I think that’s not good for anyone.
