Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has revealed that Eberechi Eze will be back with the Under-23s tomorrow and hoping to complete 90 minutes for them against Chelsea.
Patrick Viera said: “We didn’t put any date about when [he would] come back. The protocol that we put in place allow us to push it back or to bring it forward regarding how they are doing week after week. He played 60 minutes, and he felt really good, so that was the first step. He will have to make the next one, and the next one will be to play tomorrow with the Under-23s. Hopefully, he will play the 90 minutes. Then we will put another step going forward.”
There’s no doubt that when Eze gets back to full fitness he will make Vieira’s Crystal Palace side a better one, especially considering how well he played in his debut season in the Premier League last year under Roy Hodgson. The midfielder has had a chance to show his new manager Vieira what he’s about during first-team training in recent weeks, and the Frenchman said that he was a special kind of player.
Patrick Viera added: “He is somebody who makes players around him play even better. He is a team player, he is really comfortable with the ball. Technically I think he is at the top of the Premier League, I think he’s up there with some of the best players in this league. We are all excited to have him coming back to training but at the same time, we still have to be patient with him because he’s been out for a while and it will take time for him to get to his best. We have to keep following the protocol we put in place and to be patient with him.”
