Pep Guardiola has confirmed Manchester City youngster Cieran Slicker is “going to be well” after sustaining a concussion. The Blues beat Preston 2-0 at the City Academy Stadium on Tuesday night to begin their pre-season schedule, and while Zack Steffen started in goal for City, Slicker came off the bench in the second half to replace the American in between the sticks. Slicker wasn’t on the pitch for long before he was involved in a nasty collision, though, when colliding with Preston’s Tom Bayliss.
Pep Guardiola said: “It’s important today that there were no injuries, except the concussion. With the young guy our keeper [Slicker], but I think he’s going to be well. No injuries are the most important thing and tomorrow we’ll train.”
