Daniel Podence is due to undergo surgery on a groin complaint which has been plaguing the Wolverhampton Wanderers winger. The Portugal international, 25, was omitted from Wolves’ squad for the 2-0 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur today and will go under the knife tomorrow morning.
Nuno Espirito Santo said: “He’s going to have surgery tomorrow at 8am. He’s solving a problem that has been dragging for a while now. This is the moment to solve it so he can return better.”
Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg scored the goals for Spurs in north London to keep their slim top four hopes alive. But Wolves were architects of their own downfall in many ways and Nuno was frustrated with the way his team conceded both goals.
Nuno Espirito Santo added: “First half we were organised, we didn’t allow too many situations. Tottenham pressed us and had set pieces but besides that we were controlling well. Tottenham have very good players but the turning point was the first goal and it’s something I’m really disappointed with. One simple pass that breaks all the lines is something we cannot allow. Sometimes we feel that we create our own problems.”
