Dan Ndoye
Nottingham Forest winger Dan Ndoye has found himself at the center of transfer speculation as the summer window approaches. After a challenging debut season at the City Ground, the Switzerland international’s future has become a topic of discussion. Ndoye’s big-money move from Bologna last summer has not yielded the expected results, leading to rumors that the Reds might consider recouping some of the £34-35 million spent on his transfer. Both Roma and Inter Milan have been linked with potential interest in the player.
Dan Ndoye said: “Right now, I’m just proud that we finished the season successfully. It’s a big goal for me. We’ll see what happens after that. I have a contract with Nottingham until 2030 and I’m fully focused on that.”
Ndoye’s first season in the Premier League has been marked by difficulties, including fewer goals than anticipated and periods of reduced playing time. Despite these challenges, the winger remains committed to his development and the club.
Dan Ndoye said: “Sure, I haven’t scored as many goals in the Premier League as I had hoped. And there have been difficult moments, as well as periods when I played less. But unfortunately, you can’t control everything. I always gave my all and tried to perform at my best. I can’t blame myself. Because regardless of whether I’m playing or not, I’m always ready and work every day to be the best possible version of myself.”
The season has been tumultuous for Nottingham Forest, characterized by managerial changes and fluctuating performances. However, the appointment of Vítor Pereira in February brought a sense of stability, guiding the team to Premier League safety and a Europa League semi-final appearance.
Dan Ndoye said: “I knew that the move from Serie A to the Premier League wouldn’t be easy. It always takes some time to adjust. But in the end, it was more difficult than I had anticipated. Of course, so many managerial changes are far from ideal. The season, not just for me but for the entire club, was characterised by extreme highs and lows. With manager Vítor Pereira, we finally found a certain stability and secured our Premier League status. It’s just a shame that we didn’t reach the Europa League final.”
Ndoye is not the first Swiss player to face adaptation challenges in the Premier League. Former Forest midfielder Remo Freuler also struggled after moving from Italy, leaving for Bologna in 2023. Despite the difficulties, Ndoye remains optimistic and eager to continue his journey with Nottingham Forest.
Dan Ndoye said: “Yes, we talked about how things are going here. Despite everything, he spoke very positively about the club and shared his impressions of life here. I hope so. It’s been a difficult year for me but I’m hungrier than ever. As soon as I knew the team had secured their place in the league, I didn’t want to take any more risks. Now I feel fit again and ready for the national team. And I can’t wait for the World Cup to finally begin.”
As the transfer window looms, the decision on whether to retain or sell Ndoye remains a significant point of consideration for Nottingham Forest. The club must weigh the potential benefits of a sale against the player’s commitment and potential for growth.
