Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has publicly addressed rumors surrounding his recent breakup with Love Island presenter Maya Jama. The couple, who were together for approximately 18 months, parted ways a few weeks ago, with their split frequently making headlines.
Ruben Dias said: “I feel that when my 85-year-old grandad is asking me if I’ve cheated on my girlfriend, because he’s seen it repeatedly on the news, that’s where I draw the line on what’s acceptable and what’s not. Maya and I have always had a relationship built on mutual respect. No line was ever crossed in that regard. A lie told often enough can start to feel like the truth and for that reason I tell you that I didn’t cheat, nor did I ever have the intention or temptation to. I believe Maya deserves all the respect in the world. The reasons why we broke up are private and belong to us and we’ve both dealt with it in a very mature way. I’ve always chosen to remain silent on these matters as my personal life is my business only.”
Dias took to social media to clarify that allegations of infidelity were unfounded, emphasizing the respect and mutual understanding he shared with Jama. The defender’s statement came in response to persistent media stories that reportedly reached his family, prompting him to set the record straight.
The breakup, which has been a topic of public interest, was reportedly amicable, with both Dias and Jama acknowledging the demands of their burgeoning careers as a contributing factor. Despite their separation, the couple maintains a respectful relationship, underscoring the maturity with which they have handled their personal affairs.
As both individuals continue to focus on their respective professional paths, Dias remains committed to maintaining privacy regarding his personal life, reinforcing that such matters are solely his concern.
