Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes one player could have made all the difference in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham. The Blues led for much of the game after Timo Werner’s first-half strike but conceded a late equaliser through Erik Lamela following an error by Emerson Palmieri.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said “So poor a goal to concede, Emerson has the time to run back and make it a four. Just sprint back! You see the danger and if he sprints back he would intercept the ball. Zouma also should have got the ball but it happens time and time again with Chelsea with individual mistakes. If Chilwell was there, he would have got back, intercepted the ball and made the clearance. He has the time. You smell danger but it’s like he goes through the motions and jogs back. He doesn’t see the urgency and the danger. It’s a big worry.”
