Mikel Arteta Arsenal
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could face a selection headache as the Gunners prepare to return to Premier League action this weekend. Captain Martin Odegaard sustained a knee problem during Arsenal’s recent victory at the José Alvalade Stadium, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming clash against Bournemouth. The midfielder was substituted for Kai Havertz, who went on to score the decisive goal, but the extent of Odegaard’s injury remains unclear.
Jesper Mathisen said: “Those are scary images. Like watching a horror movie. A nightmare. He’s not sitting down for no reason. It would have been a big loss for both Arsenal and Norway if he had to go out with an injury again.”
Mikel Arteta said: “Extremely happy, obviously It was a big night, a big moment in the season. I think we had a point to prove. And yesterday I talked about identity and the things that I wanted to see on that pitch. It certainly happened. Certainly, there was a shift there. And then we played our opponent. It’s very tricky, very difficult to play. That’s the reason why they won 17 games in a row here. They haven’t lost for a long, long time and really had to earn it. Lacking to be a bit crispier, the movement a bit sharper, the final ball.”
Mikel Arteta continued: “But we took the game where we wanted. But after saying that, we knew as well that it’s a team extremely dangerous when they have space to run, and they have two situations where David [Raya] had to intervene in a brilliant way.”
The injury scare comes at a crucial time for Arsenal, who are competing on multiple fronts this season. Currently, the Gunners are performing strongly in the Premier League, Champions League, and Carabao Cup, with aspirations of clinching silverware. Arteta is expected to provide an update on Odegaard’s condition during his pre-match press conference on Friday, ahead of the Bournemouth fixture at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal fans will be hoping for positive news regarding their captain, as his presence is pivotal to the team’s success. The North London club is navigating a challenging fixture schedule, and Odegaard’s fitness could play a significant role in maintaining their momentum. With the team aiming for top honors, every player’s contribution is vital, and the potential absence of Odegaard could be a significant blow. However, Arteta’s side remains optimistic and focused on their objectives, determined to continue their impressive form.
