Andoni Iraola
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is gearing up for a challenging encounter as his team travels to Turf Moor to face Burnley. With recent performances highlighting Burnley’s resilience, Iraola anticipates a tough contest that will demand focus and determination from his players. The match is expected to be fiercely contested until the final whistle, with Iraola emphasizing the need for his team to earn their victory.
Andoni Iraola said: “I’ve seen the last games of Burnley. They beat Palace away 3-2. They were losing 2-0 and they turned the game. They got Chelsea away, they draw 1-1. They are losing 3-0 against Brentford, they go 3-3, they even score, it’s a slight offside, they lose at the end 4-3. The only game more or less where they’ve been a little bit worse than the opposition has been the last day against Everton. So if we expect something different, we are very, very wrong. I know that it’s going to be a big, big challenge and also it’s a team that we’ve seen, Palace 2-0 losing, they turned the game, they won it. 3-0 losing against Brentford, they turned the game, they run a lot. You see all the physical stats, they are very, very high. They have very honest players, so I expect a big fight and then we can make the difference, our players can score the goals and win the game, perfect. But we will have to earn it, no doubt.”
Iraola also reflected on Bournemouth’s previous encounter with Burnley, where they were held to a draw at home. Despite controlling the game, Bournemouth conceded a late goal, which served as a reminder of the challenges faced in the Premier League.
Andoni Iraola said: “We have also the experience. Against them a couple of months ago, we were winning 1-0 and in the 90th minute they score from a corner. We finished with a draw, so we know it’s not going to be easy, especially away in the Premier League.”
Iraola expressed respect for Burnley’s former manager Scott Parker, acknowledging his role in Bournemouth’s promotion to the Premier League. He credited Parker’s achievements and recognized the difficulty of maintaining success in the top flight.
Andoni Iraola said: “I don’t know him personally, but I think he’s who promoted this team [Bournemouth], so we should be also thankful, in the sense that he was a big part why I have this opportunity to coach here in the Premier League. He’s also done it with other clubs. I’m very happy because I have a promotion for La Liga and he has, I think, three, so he has definitely earned everything he has.”
As Bournemouth prepares for the clash, Iraola remains focused on the task ahead, emphasizing the importance of resilience and readiness to face a determined Burnley side. The match promises to be a test of endurance and skill, with both teams aiming to secure crucial points in their Premier League campaign.
