Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal continued their impressive form with a commanding win over Sunderland, thanks to a brace from Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish forward’s performance was instrumental in securing the victory, as Arsenal extended their lead over Manchester City to nine points. Manager Mikel Arteta was full of praise for Gyokeres, emphasizing the player’s composure both on and off the pitch.
Mikel Arteta said: “Because he looks straight at you and you don’t really know. But he doesn’t seem too affected by the real highs or the lows. That’s what we need, stability – he’s very demanding of himself. He’s constantly trying to improve and that’s really, really good.”
Arteta remained cautious despite Arsenal’s strong position in the title race. He stressed the importance of maintaining focus and not getting carried away with their current success.
Arteta continued: “I’m going to have a beautiful dinner tonight and tomorrow I’ll start to prepare for Brentford, because it’s going to be a really tough one. We still have to win so many games to achieve what we want, so let’s not focus on that, that’s something else, we’ve done our job now, we’ve had what we have to do, assess that, try to improve it and get ready for Brentford. We have to keep raising our level.”
Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris also weighed in on Arsenal’s title aspirations, expressing confidence in their ability to secure the championship.
Regis Le Bris said: “Yes, I think so. It’s a great time to be an Arsenal fan, with the Gunners flying high under Arteta as they look to win silverware this season.”
Arsenal’s current form has been impressive across all competitions, with the team also competing in the Champions League and reaching the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. Arteta’s side has shown resilience and determination, qualities that will be crucial as they aim for major trophies this season. As the season progresses, Arsenal fans will be eagerly watching to see if their team can maintain this momentum and secure silverware.
