Trevoh Chalobah
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has expressed his disappointment following the team’s exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of Arsenal. Despite Chelsea’s strong performance, they were unable to overturn a first-leg deficit, ultimately succumbing to a late goal by Kai Havertz that sealed Arsenal’s place in the final.
Trevoh Chalobah said: “It’s disappointing not to get to the final. It was a chance for us to get to another final and win another trophy, but it was just the final details in the attacking third. I thought there wasn’t much in the game, and we did really well to nullify them, especially in the first half. They had a chance at the end, but the boys did well – it was just the final details. We stuck to the game plan. We were pushing at the end, but it didn’t work out. We have to keep our heads up and not allow this to affect us and carry on our good form.”
Chalobah added: “Arsenal didn’t create many chances, they didn’t really hurt us in that final part of the game, it was just the final details – finishing our attacks or getting shots off – that’s what we need to improve. We needed to get more shots off, but it’s hard to break down Arsenal and their defence – it’s something we can learn from. We can keep our heads high and move on to the next.”
Chelsea entered the semi-final second leg trailing 3-2 from the first encounter at Stamford Bridge. Despite a solid defensive setup orchestrated by Liam Rosenior, who had previously led the team to five consecutive victories, Chelsea struggled to break through Arsenal’s resolute defense. The match remained tightly contested until Havertz’s decisive strike in stoppage time.
Chalobah emphasized the importance of learning from this experience, particularly in refining their attacking execution. With Chelsea currently positioned fifth in the Premier League and still competing in the FA Cup and the Champions League, the defender remains optimistic about the team’s prospects. The focus now shifts to maintaining their form and addressing the areas identified during the semi-final loss.
The Blues will look to capitalize on their remaining opportunities this season, with Chalobah urging the squad to remain resilient and focused on their objectives.
