Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has shared his optimism regarding the potential of his key attacking players, Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani, as the club gears up for a crucial Premier League fixture against Manchester City. Frank believes Solanke, who has returned to form after a persistent ankle injury, could make a compelling case for inclusion in England manager Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the upcoming World Cup. Additionally, Frank has made it clear that Kolo Muani will remain a vital part of Tottenham’s squad.
Thomas Frank said: “Of course it’s for Thomas Tuchel and his staff to take that decision in the end. I think that Dom, 100 per cent fit, sharp and performing, should be in the mix. I don’t know how many strikers, clear number nines, England want to bring, but he definitely should be in that mix. All his qualities are there to be selected for that.”
Frank further discussed Solanke’s progress, highlighting that while he hasn’t set a specific goal target for the striker, Solanke likely has his own objectives. The manager focuses on improving training processes to enhance performance.
Frank added: “I never do that. I think they do it themselves. I just analyse and try to improve the process every week in terms of training, getting in the right areas, video clips, things like that.”
Regarding Kolo Muani, Frank expressed confidence in the Frenchman’s abilities and his future at the club.
Frank stated: “Yes. Next question! I really hope this goal and the performance can give him some confidence to build from. His qualities and abilities, I always liked them. I think he gives us a different dimension. The first action inside the second minute against Frankfurt, where he is bursting through on the left-hand side… that one-v-one ability and pace is frightening.”
Kolo Muani has shown promise in the UEFA Champions League, despite struggling in the Premier League. Frank is hopeful that recent performances will boost his confidence and lead to improved form.
In addition to Solanke and Kolo Muani, Frank discussed the adaptation of Xavi Simons to the Premier League, acknowledging the challenges posed by the league’s pace and physicality. He noted Simons’ positive trajectory and the potential impact of the new 3-4-3 formation on his performance.
Frank commented: “I think Xavi has been on a positive [trajectory] for a while, but there is no doubt that the pace and the physicality in the Premier League is higher than all the other clubs across Europe.”
As Tottenham prepares to host Manchester City, Frank emphasized the importance of unity between players and fans. He expressed confidence in his team’s ability to compete against top-tier opponents and highlighted the unwavering support of Spurs fans.
Frank concluded: “When we are together and united as a group, players and fans, magic things can happen. So I think it’s all about that.”
Frank remains optimistic about Tottenham’s prospects against Manchester City, emphasizing respect for the opposition while maintaining belief in his team’s capability to secure a positive result.
