Sean Dyche Burnley
Nottingham Forest is facing a challenging period as they seek to bolster their attacking options following the departure of Arnaud Kalimuendo on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt. With Chris Wood sidelined due to knee surgery and Taiwo Awoniyi’s future uncertain, head coach Sean Dyche is under pressure to strengthen his squad to ensure Premier League survival and make significant progress in the Europa League. The responsibility of leading the attack currently falls on summer signing Igor Jesus, but the club is actively exploring new striker options.
Simon Jordan said: “The emperor’s new clothes. Pay £50m for that rubbish? Good luck. He’s poor. I think he’s a poor player.”
Rob Edwards said: “But while we are in this window, there’s always going to be speculation about a number of our players because of the position we’re in – and the fact we have some good players. So, I get it, there’s going to be interest. But we’ll do everything on an individual basis and do what’s right for the club. We’re in control of it, but if it’s right, we’ll see.”
Sean Dyche said: “There’s interest in lots of different players. They’re not my players until the pen’s on the paper. Once the ink’s dry then I’m more than happy. But, certainly, I’m not going to start changing my habits of a lifetime in football and mention about other people’s players.”
The 25-year-old Jorgen Strand Larsen has emerged as a prominent target for Forest. The Norwegian striker, currently with Wolverhampton Wanderers, has struggled to replicate his previous season’s form, managing just one goal in the Premier League this term. Despite Wolves being open to his departure, his £40 million price tag has been a point of contention, with pundits like Simon Jordan criticizing the valuation. Strand Larsen’s potential move has also been linked to West Ham United, although they have reportedly been deterred by the hefty fee.
Beyond Strand Larsen, Forest is exploring other options to enhance their attacking lineup. Reports suggest that the club has made a loan offer for Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri, although convincing him to move to England might prove challenging due to his preference for a warmer climate. Additionally, Forest’s striker shortlist includes Roma’s Artem Dovbyk, Olympiacos’s Mehdi Taremi, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson, and Napoli’s Lorenzo Lucca.
As Forest navigates this transfer window, the club remains focused on finding the right fit to complement Dyche’s squad, ensuring they have the firepower needed for the challenges ahead.
