Liam Rosenior, the newly-appointed Chelsea manager, has drawn inspiration from Mikel Arteta’s success at Arsenal as he embarks on his journey with the Blues. Arteta, who has been with Arsenal for over six years, has transformed the Gunners into consistent title contenders and is a favorite for this season’s Premier League trophy. Despite only winning the FA Cup during his tenure, Arteta’s impact has been significant, and Rosenior hopes to replicate such success at Stamford Bridge.
Rosenior said: “Everyone starts somewhere. It doesn’t matter. I think Mikel is someone who has done an incredible job. He’s had time to build the way he wants his team to look. They’re very well organised, they’re very good in terms of their organisation in every aspect of the game. He’s done a very, very good job there. Like I said, everyone has to start somewhere. It’s just one of those things that everybody has a different background. Everyone has a different way of getting somewhere. And you respect everybody in the industry, because it’s a difficult industry to be in. Especially as a coach, you’re judged on every word, every action, every game. If you can’t deal with that pressure, then you shouldn’t be in the job.”
Rosenior, who is set to face Arteta in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, understands that longevity at a club like Chelsea is contingent on delivering results. He acknowledged the necessity of winning to secure his position and expressed his desire to remain at Stamford Bridge for the long term.
Rosenior added: “I’d love to be here for six years or longer. I’d be here as long as possible but I’m aware that in order for that to happen, I need to win. It’s as simple as that. I understand every club has a different project. It is as simple as that. So for me, my focus, yes, I’ve got ideas about what I want the team to look like in a year’s time, two years, three years’ time, but I think I’ve got enough resources and enough tools with me now to win. I’ve made it clear to the players. We’re going to give our best shot on Wednesday. The lads trained very, very well this morning. I will make a decision on the team in the next few days.”
Rosenior’s comments reflect a clear understanding of the pressures and expectations that come with managing a top Premier League club. His acknowledgment of Arteta’s achievements and his desire to emulate such success underline his commitment to building a winning team at Chelsea. As he prepares for the upcoming Carabao Cup semi-final, Rosenior’s focus remains on securing victories and establishing a strong foundation for his tenure at Stamford Bridge.
