Evan Ferguson
Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson is set to reignite his career as he joins the Seagulls for their second friendly match during their Spanish tour. The team is scheduled to face Las Palmas in a behind-closed-doors match on the Costa Del Sol. Ferguson, who has faced setbacks due to injuries both at Brighton and during his loan spell at West Ham, is eager to make a strong comeback.
Fabian Hurzeler said: “For us it is always important the individual players have an environment where they can develop. We decided the loan was the best option. He is still a player of us, he still brings us quality with him, he is a target player and I am sure when he gets more game time he will one day be back and be an important player for us.”
Despite reports of an unsuccessful bid from Milan, Pervis Estupinan remains with the Brighton squad. The Seagulls have brought a large group of players to Spain, with 22 having participated in last week’s 3-1 victory over Stoke City. Head coach Fabian Hurzeler plans to distribute playing time similarly against Las Palmas. Key players such as Lewis Dunk, Yankuba Minteh, Max Le Cuyper, and Matt O’Riley are expected to feature prominently in the upcoming match.
Several players are dealing with minor issues, including Carlos Baleba, Oliver Boscagli, Igor Julio, and Tommy Watson, but they are anticipated to return next week. Meanwhile, Harry Howell, Ferdi Kadioglu, and Bart Verbruggen will sit out this match, while Greek players Stefanos Tzimas and Charalampos Kostoulas are not yet prepared to participate.
Fabian Hurzeler said: “We are in a good place.”
Brighton’s Spanish tour serves as a critical opportunity for the team to fine-tune their strategies and provide valuable game time to players recovering from injuries or seeking to establish themselves in the squad. The Seagulls aim to build on their recent success and integrate their players effectively, ensuring a competitive edge in the upcoming season.
