Nottingham Forest
Harry Toffolo, the departing Nottingham Forest defender, has opened up about his time at the club, expressing heartfelt gratitude towards the fans and the organization. As his contract nears its expiration at the end of the month, Toffolo prepares to leave the City Ground after a three-year stint, during which he made 57 appearances. His departure marks the end of a significant chapter in his career, leaving him as a free agent.
Harry Toffolo said: “It was easy at the start really because I’ve been on holiday. It’s tough. But wherever I go next, I’m excited for the future. I’m very, very grateful for this football club. It moved me when I was driving through the gate into the players’ car park for probably the last time. It’s a football club that is aligned – from the very top all the way down to the players and the staff. It’s just a special place to be. No one will be able to see your personal information and you will only receive messages from the NottinghamshireLive Reds writers. The facilities are incredible and you can really see a Premier League club now that’s only going to get stronger and stronger.”
Toffolo continued: “I don’t do it for the awards or anything like that, I can’t help myself. I just want to try to be a good person and try to help other people. I did an interview (after the FA charge) and I was just myself and I think it resonated with a lot of people. I was speaking to the guys from the Tricky Hub while I was on holiday, making sure they’re OK. I’m not someone who will just leave and not keep in touch with people – I made that clear to the group when I told them I would be leaving the football club. I just want to make everyone happy.”
He added: “I get emotional when you talk about my boy. It was amazing. I thought I was out, I thought I was done when the FA charge happened. Since then, I’ve just evolved and grown. This football club has given me so much, the fans… you have no idea what you have done (for me).”
Toffolo’s tenure at Nottingham Forest has been marked by both on-field performances and significant contributions off the pitch. His involvement in mental health initiatives, such as the “Tricky to Talk” sessions, has earned him respect and admiration from the community. Despite facing a suspended five-month ban for breaching regulations between January 2014 and March 2017, Toffolo remained committed to his personal growth and community involvement.
His departure comes with a deep sense of appreciation for the support he received from the fans and the club, which he describes as a “special place.” As he moves forward in his career, Toffolo remains optimistic and excited about future opportunities, carrying with him the experiences and relationships built during his time at Nottingham Forest.
