Sheffield Wednesday boss Trevor Francis suggested that his side would go for the jugular against Manchester United that weekend and finish them off that season, something that they could not do a year before.
In 1992-93 season, the Red Devils were at the mercy of the Yorkshire club twice but were let off the hook. At Hillsborough, the Owls squandered a 3-0 lead in the dying minutes whilst a 1-0 lead turned into a 2-1 loss in the injury time at Old Trafford.
Trevor Francis said “We battled them twice last season and if it hadn’t gone on too long the last time we would have come away with a good win. United look hot favourites again this season. They’ve got a great squad and are oozing confidence. But this isa good chance for us to give ourselves a boost.”
