Brentford has positioned itself as a strong contender for European competition following a commanding 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest. This victory has propelled them into the race for a European spot, and they could surpass Brighton on the league table if they secure a win against Manchester United on Sunday, provided Brighton fails to win against Newcastle. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s primary focus remains on their Europa League campaign, especially after their convincing 3-0 victory in the first leg of the semi-final against Bilbao.

Ruben Amorim said: “We know that we have always a responsibility but in this moment we have to take a risk. There are some positions that we don’t have more players. For example, Nous Mazraoui cannot play. He is in the limit to get an injury, so we are going to deal with that and prepare a game against a team that won and is in the great moment. We have always a responsibility to perform. We have always a responsibility of the result. It’s not a good thing to say but we need to understand the context.”

Amorim has been candid about the challenges his team faces as they navigate a congested fixture schedule. With a 26-man squad traveling to Bilbao, the inclusion of young talents such as Chido Obi, Sekou Kone, Bendito Mantato, Jaydan Kamason, and Tyler Fredricson indicates potential changes in the lineup. This strategic rotation aims to preserve key players’ fitness for the crucial Europa League clash.

Amorim added: “The first thing is that the players that are in risk to get an injury will not play. No matter what. We need to take a risk in that. And then we are going to assess (on Friday) and the next day who are the best players to start the game. Then we have to be careful because we are Manchester United and we cannot go to a game without thinking we can win this game. So, the process is going to be like that, it’s going to be tough but we passed so many things this year. This is one more. Let’s see.”

Amorim’s approach underscores the delicate balance between maintaining competitive performance in the league and prioritizing the Europa League. This situation presents a tactical challenge, as United must manage player workloads while striving for success on multiple fronts. The outcome of their domestic fixture against Brentford could significantly impact the race for European qualification.

As Brentford eyes a potential leap over Brighton, Albion supporters will be keenly observing Arsenal’s tactics against Bournemouth, which could further influence the standings. The weekend’s fixtures promise to be pivotal in shaping the final European slots, with each club’s strategy under scrutiny.
