Anfield boss Graeme Souness warned that health issues could force him to quit Liverpool if he doesn’t get the sack first. Liverpool had lost four consecutive matches with pressure on Souness growing every day for poor performances on the field and falling out with the players off it. But Souness admitted that he had undergone bypass surgeries and the stress of managing Liverpool could increase the health risk for him.
Graeme Souness said “’ve got to be realistic. Given the fact that I’ve had two operations, it is something you have got to be wary. I’ve been advised not to do this for too long beyond the length of my present contract if I’m allowed to manage that long. We were desperately unlucky not to get a result. We felt we played well, but we came away with no goals and no points.”
