Amanda Staveley at Bloomberg’s ‘Women, Money & Power’ event in central London acknowledged her interest in being involved in a Premier League club again, expressing her inability to entirely move on from Newcastle five months after her departure.
Amanda Staveley said “It’s so hard to move on from a club that’s amazing. We could never move on from Newcastle, and we never will. But yes, we’re looking at a number of investment operations. We can’t say too much at the moment because of rules around it. But we will be able to talk about it, hopefully in the not too distant future.”
Later, Amanda Staveley spoke to The Athletic about potential investment in Tottenham, reflecting on her preference to remain with Newcastle and her respect for what was best for the club.
Amanda Staveley said “Not much, I’m afraid. My preference would have been to stay with Newcastle, but life doesn’t always work out exactly how you want it to. Nothing is going to replicate that. I fell in love with Newcastle, the club and the people, and that can’t change, but I didn’t want to get in Newcastle’s way. It’s got to be about what’s best for Newcastle.”
Daniel Levy in the club’s latest set of financial results, released in April, acknowledged the need for discussions with potential investors due to plans for team investment and future capital projects requiring a boost in equity.
Daniel Levy said “the board and its advisors, Rothschild & Co, are in discussions with prospective investors as they need to continue to invest in the teams and undertake future capital projects, the club requires a significant increase in its equity base.”
