David McGoldrick reflected on his interactions and observations regarding his former teammate Gareth Bale, emphasizing the Welsh player’s unchanged nature despite his successful career.
David McGoldrick said “I spoke to him a couple of years ago when I played him against Tottenham and he’s still the same humble guy, so that’s the best thing about it all.”
McGoldrick also shared his early impressions of Theo Walcott, recalling the moment he realized Walcott’s potential during their initial training sessions at Southampton.
David McGoldrick said “I could always see their potential, especially Theo Walcott. When I first went to Southampton as a 16 year old, he was a year younger than me. He trained with us for the first time, on my first week there – and I’ve never seen someone so quick! It was like lightning going past me. I knew he was going to be a superstar.”
Reflecting on the array of talented players he encountered at Southampton, McGoldrick highlighted Adam Lallana’s skills and career achievements, underscoring his respect for Lallana’s abilities.
David McGoldrick said “Adam Lallana is one of the best players I played with in terms of technical [ability] – left foot, right foot. He’s won the Premier League, played in the Premier League and with England for so many games, I knew he would go on.”
