Alan Shearer Tipped his former side Southampton to get out of the relegation fight
England striker Alan Shearer tipped his former club Southampton to get out of trouble near the bottom of the premier league. Shearer returned to the Dell with Blackburn later that week just four days after notching his 17th goal of the season with a diving header in England’s victory over Turkey. And he offered words of consolation for Ian Branfoots’ struggling Saints who were just five points better of the bottom club Nottingham Forest.

Crystal Palace was set to miss John Salako for a long time after a knee surgery
Crystal Palace were likely to be without John Salako for the bottom of the Premier League tussle with Nottingham Forest, described by Palace manager Steve Coppell “our most important game for a long time” Salako, who underwent crucial knee surgery in the United States, has been booked in for a hospital scan on Tuesday to discover the latest problem to his knee which was aggravated during England training this week.

Doug Livermore tipped Aston Villa to win the Premier League ahead of his side Tottenham’s clash against them
Doug Livermore tipped Aston Villa to be champions then ordered his Tottenham side to go out and beat them at White Hart Lane later that day. Livermore was so impressed with Villaform this season that he was convinced they could become the inaugural winners of the Premier League. Livermore believes Villa manager Ron Atkinson has pulled off a masterstroke with the £2.3m signing of Dean Saunders.

Trevor Francis reacted angrily to Manchester United’s bid for David Hirst
Sheffield Wednesday officials reacted angrily to a £3.5 million offer from Old Trafford to get their leading marksman, David Hirst. Trevor Francis was not impressed by the gesture and reacted furiously, “This offer has come in despite the fact that I have told Alex Ferguson and our chairman told their chairman that Hirst is not for sale. We are very annoyed about this. We have made it clear that David is not available for United but they do not want to accept that fact.”
