• QPR Striker Les Ferdinand said London Rivals Tottenham Hotspur Could have won the title under Terry Venables
QPR star striker Les Ferdinand said that he had sympathies with Tottenham’s sacked manager Terry Venables and believed that Spurs could have challenged for trophies that season under him. Ferdinand said that the players coming through at White Hart Lane and the squad that Venables was building was really impressive before a feud between the chairman Alan Sugar resulted in the manager having to leave the club.
Les Ferdinand said “I couldn’t help wondering what might have been if all of this never happened. I reckon Spurs could have challenged for the premiership this time around. I know Terry had great plans – everything was coming together in the end and young players like Nick Barmby coming through. I don’t know what really happened but it’s a shame that it had to end that way.”
