Bruno Lage admits Wolverhampton Wanderers might not be able to refuse their ‘big opportunity’ to cash in on talisman Ruben Neves.
Bruno Lage said: “We need to wait for an offer, because we don’t have anything. If it’s good for the club, for the player, then we will decide. For me, it’s clear, if you ask me: do you want to work with Ruben? Yes. If you ask the player if he wants to work with me, for sure he would say yes. But this is football and you never know what can happen. In these days we need to be ready for everything, especially at a club like Wolves. This is the kind of club where we cannot lose a big opportunity. I said top players and top men, like Ruben, are worth £100million, right?”
Wolves are working hard to identify potential replacements for Neves, with Sporting duo Matheus Nunes and Joao Palhinha said to be of interest. Lage might also have to replace Joao Moutinho, whose contract at Molineux expires in June.
Bruno Lage added: “We need to be aware of everything, not just in that position. Anything can happen, not just with Ruben, but with other positions. If we want to improve our squad we need to have players on our radar, the best guys at the best price for us. We have been doing that since the first day. My chairman, my sporting director, they already know what we need and they already know what we need if something happens in any position.”
