Allan has backed Richarlison to carry on scoring but admits he only sees the colour of the shirt not the face of a friend when it comes to the Brazilians playing against Everton for Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby. y with crucial Premier League points at stake.
Allan said: “All the Brazilians in the area do have a great relationship as friends. Of course, we play together for the national team and we know each other. But when it comes to a match, I don’t see the face of a friend. I see the colour of the shirt. They are not friends at that moment, they are an opponent – and I have my job to do. I have to fight for my team, I have to fight for my family and my daily bread, and my team-mates. No part of the friendship goes onto the pitch. It is put to one side and it doesn’t matter who they are. I just fight for the shirt. We do have a great relationship, all of us but there’s no-one in particular (who he’s closer to among the Brazilians at Liverpool). We relate more together when we go with the national team and due to the schedule and the season’s calendar it’s hard to be in touch so much. But they are great people, although like I say when it comes to the match we have our own agenda I have to defend my club, my badge my fans and my friends at the club and that’s what we look at our own clubs.”
