Axel Tuanzebe has been recalled from his loan at Aston Villa after head coach Steven Gerrard was unable to give the central defender assurances about playing time over the second half of the season. The Manchester United youngster was due to spend the entire season at Villa Park after being recruited by former boss Dean Smith in August Asked about Tuanzebe after the loss at Brentford,
Steven Gerrard said: “I’d like to keep the player until the end of the season at least. But this is a case of it’s totally out of my hands, it’s in the hands of Axel, his representatives and Manchester United, and we should know by the end of play today [what is happening]. Axel is his own man and will want to make his own decision.”
It is understood that the clubs chasing Tuanzebe want an option to buy included in any loan, but United are reluctant to do so having already refused to give Aston Villa the same option when they negotiated the players third loan spell at the club back in August.
