How do you assess that performance?
I thought it was a good performance. Couple of defensive lapses in the first half gave Tottenham a couple of relatively easy goals. The commitment and determination was there in abundance. The result wasn’t a good thing. The way we tried to get back into the game was very good.
Would Michail Antonio have made a difference in that second half?
It was probably part of it but also missing [Aaron] Cresswell, Zouma, Ogbonna, Coufal. It wasn’t down to one. We missed a few. This competition we’ve chopped and changed. Everyone who’s played in the games has done really well.
Could he back for Southampton?
The answer is I don’t know. He has no symptoms. He’s double vaccinated. Hopefully there’s a good chance we might have him back, yes.
Reguillon appeared to be offside for one of Tottenham’s goals
I’ve not seen it.
The squad is very stretched at the moment
It’s stretching the squad because we’ve lost so many defenders. Today we had to be a little makeshift. We gave two poor goals away really. But I didn’t think that reflected the general feeling of how we played throughout the goal. We tried to make things happen so I’m pleased for the players because it’s an improvement on where we’ve been in recent weeks.
You played Manchester United, Manchester City and then Spurs – bemoaning your luck in the draw?
If you’re giving me European football, Carabao Cup, FA Cup, Premier League, without me saying it I think everybody would know where this would come.
Any indication when Aaron Cresswell will be back?
I can’t give you an answer at the moment but we’re missing him and we’d like to get him back if we can.
What is the problem with him?
He slid into the post at Man City and he’s got a slight, I don’t know if you call it on his rib or vertebrae, but he’s got something which is a problem. It’s taking longer than we expected.
