Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard was asked the inevitable question after his side’s 2-1 defeat of Leicester City on Sunday. Villa had just beaten City thanks to a brace from Ezri Konsa to record their third win from four matches since Gerrard took over from Dean Smith last month. He was asked after the Leicester game what thoughts he had about returning to Liverpool.
Steven Gerrard said: “None, none at all. We just want to go there and try to win and take what we can. For us, we are not competing with Liverpool in terms of the level we are both at at the moment but we will certainly go there with everything we have got. We took Manchester City to the wire and I believe we should have got something out of the game from the second half performance. We go there with confidence and belief with three wins out of four and we go there and try and make it as difficult as we can.”
Gerrard has always been eager to bat away any questions about Liverpool and be 100 per cent committed to Villa.
