Chelsea’s star Mason Mount has demanded that his teammates keep the ‘focus’ and ‘mentality’ ahead of a potential immediate reaction to the 3-2 West Ham loss. Mount, 22, once again showed Blues fans why he is one of the most important players in their attack with his ‘goal of the season’ contender as described on BT Sport’s commentary and assist that he picked up at the London Stadium.
Thomas Tuchel said: “I didn’t see our performance dip against Man United or today, I think the performance is enough to even win the game but what we clearly see is we give easy goals away and this is very unusual. We make big mistakes that lead to big chances that lead to easy goals. We do this now in three matchdays against Man United, Watford and again today. If you do this at this kind of level, you can’t expect to have a result.”
Despite Chelsea now dropping to third after those other results, all attention will now turn to the Zenit game on Wednesday as a big reaction is now expected from the west London faithful who have had to endure a disappointing weekend of football. Mount then added some more reaction with what he said to the BBC regarding a question about fatigue in the squad being thrown his way.
Mason Mount said: “A lot of games, it can take a toll, but that’s not an excuse we can use – we come out here and want to win, it’s a derby. We don’t concede many, so that is something we need to look at. It is mistakes we haven’t made, tired minds, tired bodies, but we need to keep the standard high. We regroup and come back next game.”
Chelsea fans will be hoping he stays fit and continues to shine as they look to impress against Zenit on Wednesday and return to winning ways on the domestic front when they take on Leeds in the Premier League on 11th December.
