Kyle Walker has claimed that Manchester City must win the Champions League in order to be on the same level as Manchester United and Liverpool. City have dominated domestically; winning three out of the last four Premier League titles as well as numerous cup competitions.
Kyle Walker said: “For this club to be on the same pedestal as Manchester United and Liverpool we need to win it. The owners have invested so much into the club, you look at the training ground, the stadium and the players they’re bringing in, for them to win the Champions League would be massive. For us as players, Scott Carson was the only player in that dressing room that had reached the final before, that says a lot. Now we’ve all been there, we’ve ticked that off the list now the next thing is to go and actually win it. That’s the same for England, we’ve reached the semi and the final (of the Euros), now I want to go and lift that trophy at the end if it’s the Champions League or the World Cup.”
City beat Paris-Saint Germain 2-1 on Wednesday to secure their place in the last-16 of the competition as group winners, and are amongst the favourites to win the trophy.
